Account Manager II
Location: Aligned to an Anthem office, but eligible to work remotely with local travel expectations.
Anthem’s Commercial and Specialty Business Division (CSBD) team is looking for an Account Manager II with a proven track-record in sales, negotiations, client retention, broker relations and the ability to cross-sell/upsell to join its team. This high-performing individual contributor will have primary responsibility for a defined set of brokers and groups in Anthem’s California Pool. Typical group size is 100-300 enrolled subscribers in fully insured medical/specialty plans.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Defines and oversees the execution of account management and retention strategy for a defined set of brokers and book of accounts.
Identifies opportunities for penetration sales.
Supports pursuit of new business opportunities typically with a broker/consultant, and through a team approach with field office sales staff.
Responsible for growing Specialty Business within existing accounts.
Develops business relationships with brokers, consultants, and key decision makers in order to meet or exceed new and renewal sales targets.
Manages the annual renewal process for accounts, including underwriting negotiation, preparation of renewal analysis, and broker presentations.
Works directly with Service Account Representatives to assure that all aspects of account service run smoothly.

Requires a BA/BS and a minimum of 2 years of experience in account management or sales; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Sales license required.
Experience interacting confidently with key stakeholders, as a subject matter expert and comfortable with influencing decision-making.
Excellent written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with the proven ability to negotiate financial renewals and expectations between multiple parties.
Proven ability to resolve complex issues in a fast paced and high demand environment.
Mastery of Microsoft Office products, most notably PowerPoint for creating presentations, Teams, Outlook, Excel and Word.
